Arise: A Simple Story Concludes Developer Diary Video Series Which Focuses on Storytelling

Techland has launched a new developer diary for the Piccolo Studio-developed adventure-puzzle game Arise: A Simple Story, available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC-via Epic Games Store.

The series aims to highlight key aspects of the game and give a behind-the-scenes look at what went into its development. This entry of the series takes a look at the story and how the team created a narrative in such a fantastical world. Game Directors Alexis Corominas and Jordi Ministral discuss how they wrapped the story in with the game’s puzzle and how the team was inspired by Studio Ghibli.

Arise: A Simple Story tells the story of an old man who has passed on and is ritually burned. He is then taken to a new world full of color and beauty. However, as he makes his way through this new area, he realizes that he must remember moments of his life, some happy, and some, better left forgotten. Gameplay allows players to move through time with the press of a button. This mechanic is then used to explore the ever-changing environments.
