Respawn Entertainment announced that Apex Legends’ long-awaited second season, titled Battle Charge is now live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Origin.
Battle Charge brings a lot of updates including a new playable Legend, updated map, a new weapon, battle pass rewards, daily challenges, and even content categories.
First off, Natalie “Wattson” Paquette is a new support character that uses her skills in electrical engineering to dominate the battlefield. Her tactical skill allows her to drop down posts for an electric fence that damages and stuns enemies that pass through it. The character trailer seen below shows that she has the capability to string up multiple posts to block off entire areas. Her passive ability enables Wattson to have a fully charged ultimate with one Ultimate Accelerant item. Finally, her ultimate is called Interception Pylon destroys incoming air strikes and restores teammates shields as well as charges Wattson’s tactical to continuously drop more electric fences.
Another bullet point from the new season is the game’s map, Kings Canyon has been updated with new terrain, buildings, and features thanks to a mysterious figure that blows up the Repulsor Tower that kept the beasts surrounding the maps at bay. Now monsters are in the map, ready to interfere in your climb to the top of the leaderboard.
Respawn is also releasing Apex Legends Ranked Leagues, A mode for players that choose to test their skills in ranked matches, complete with tiered matchmaking. For dedicated players that put in the time and effort to reach number one in these matches will level up through each of the ranks to be the best of the best and earn exclusive rewards. What most interesting about the league is the careful design Respawn Entertainment put in to have a fair playing field for players of all skills and playstyles. For detailed information, check out Respawn’s blog in the new mode.
Additionally, there are daily and weekly challenges that players can complete to speed up their battle pass level and earn more rewards. The battle pass trailer highlights the weapon skins, loading screens, music packs, and skydiving emotes that can be earned throughout the season.

Author’s take: This is the biggest update from Apex Legends that I can recall. And while purely aesthetic, I find the loading screens skydiving emotes and changeable music pack awesome for a completely personal experience that isn’t just about showing off. A first for battle royales if I do say so myself.
