Vince Zampella and Respawn Entertainment revealed that Apex Legends, their newest game to enter the free to play battle Royale scene, has reached 25 million players with 2 million concurrent players over the weekend of February 8th.
Along with the news, Zampella took to Twitter to update players plans Respawn will introduce in the near future.
First, Twitch will sponsor a Livestream event called Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge. The event will pit 48 of the biggest Twitch personalities to compete in the game. The Livestream will air on Twitch and playapex’s channel on Tuesday the 12th as well as the following Tuesday on the 19th.
Respawn will also be celebrating Valentine’s day with a set of limited time themed loot for the player to fight over. No details for how to obtain the items or a tease on how they look but players can bet in-game information with the event launches later this week.
Finally, Respawn is gearing up to launch Apex Legends’ first season with new characters, weapons, and loot alongside their battle pass in March. There are also no hard details on the Battle Pass but players familiar with Battle Royale titles can certainly bet on the pass giving users access to tiered gear to unlock, similar to Fortnite.
Apex Legends is available to play now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Author’s Take: I have been having a hoot and holler Apex Legends so far but now that live events and extra content is starting to take shape, we can begin to see if Respawn is capable of sustaining a long term game.
