We have confirmation that Japanese media company GREE will be releasing smartphone titles SINoALICE and Another Eden in the US and Europe. This information was unveiled during the company’s presentation for Q1 of 2019’s fiscal year.
SINoALICE is a free-to-play mobile real-time RPG developed by PocketLaboratory and published by Square Enix in Japan, back in mid2017. The title revolves around famous literary characters in a world called ‘Library’ who fight off nightmares that will consume their stories. Yoko Taro, director of the Nier and Drakengard titles, is the writer and creative director for the game and it will be distributed by company partners.
Another Eden is a mobile RPG that was developed and published by Wright Flyer Studios, releasing April last year. The game stars a young man who accidentally escapes an evil demon king, who wants to erase all humans, by falling into the future. The title is written by Masato Kato and scored by Yasunori Mitsuda, who both worked on the Chrono and Xenogears games. It will be distributed directly through GREE.
The games are available on both iOS and Android in Japan, the English release window has not been confirmed.
Author’s Take: I play a lot of mobile games so I’m super excited to see these coming west. I was talking to a friend about SINoALICE just before the news dropped actually so that’s pretty fun too.
