Sekai Project has released the Whirpool-developed romance visual novel Animal Trail Girlish Square 2 on PC via Steam and Denpasoft. While the Denpasoft release features the full content, a Free patch is available for Steam owners. To celebrate, the publisher released a new trailer highlighting the game’s cast.
Animal Trail Girlish Square 2 is a visual novel that combines the worlds of idol culture and magical girls. The story follows Nakamori Taiga, an avid fan of the underground idol group, who inadvertently discovers that the members are not just idols but also magical girls. These girls are on a mission to save the enchanted realm of Hemdesmel from collapsing by collecting an energy source known as “Pal,” which is generated by humans during moments of immense joy. Taiga, having uncovered their secret, finds himself in the unexpected role of their manager. Despite the lack of choice in this new responsibility, for an idol otaku like him, managing his favorite group is a dream come true. He quickly forms connections with each of the girls, aiding them in reaching their full potential, and under his direction, their marketing efforts start paying off, propelling Animal Trail ☆ Girlish Square into the spotlight in the indie idol world.
The group’s journey takes a thrilling turn when they receive an invitation to the Tokyo New Idol Festival, a significant, nationally televised event that promises to determine the best indie idols. This opportunity poses the ultimate question for Animal Trail ☆ Girlish Square: is this their chance to achieve mainstream stardom, and do they have what it takes to stand out among the competition? The narrative follows the group as they navigate this critical juncture, balancing their dual identities as both idols and magical girls with their collective dreams at stake.
Animal Trail Girlish Square 2 boasts beautiful art by Shiromochi Sakura and features magical girl idols with animal ears, combining two popular genres in a fun and engaging story by Oumiya Yuu. The game is fully voiced in Japanese, with the exception of the main character, and is a kinetic visual novel, meaning it has only one ending. Players can revisit their favorite moments in a gallery that includes CGs and in-game music tracks and even have the option to favorite specific voice lines. This blend of idol culture, magical girl fantasy, and interactive storytelling makes for an immersive and enchanting experience.
