Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI Inspired RPG ‘Alterium Shift’ Gets Early Access Release Date Set for July With Demo Available Now; New Trailer Streaming

Gravity Games announced that the drass_ray and Mottzy-developed retro RPG, Alterium Shift, will launch onto Steam Early Access on July 6, 2023. Players who purchase the game within the first week will receive a 20% discount.

Further, the publisher revealed that players can get a preview of the game during Steam Next Fest. The demo is available now, but Steam Next Fest will be highlighting the game from June 19 through June 26.

The developer expects to have the game in Early Access until the end of 2023 into early 2024. This will help them with the localization and porting to other platforms. The game is 50% complete, and they need more time to fine-tune the experience.

Alterium Shift is inspired by retro JRPGs such as Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI. The game follows three characters, Pyta, Atlas, and Sage, who have an on-map ability to allow them access to various parts of the map. This opens up new routes for exploration as players progress the narrative. Players will choose a character, but others will join along the way.

Combat is turn-based with a turn-order display for important decision-making. Enemies have various weaknesses to take advantage of, so creating a variety in your party is important. Each character also has a “Burst Bar,” which, when full, blasts out a powerful ability to cause high damage to an enemy.

We’ll keep you updated on the development of Alterium Shift.
