THQ has announced that their upcoming horror reboot, Alone in the Dark, has been delayed yet again. The game is now delayed to March 20, 2024, following its previously planned launch date of January 16, 2024.
The following message was shared:
“The well-being of the teams is a top priority, and both companies want to avoid any potential crunch over the Christmas holidays. Furthermore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive want to ensure that the game not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the community, especially with the outstanding performances of Hollywood stars David and Jodie as the main protagonists.
We understand that many people are eagerly awaiting the release, but your patience will be rewarded. We are thrilled to scare the living daylights out of you on March 20th, 2024!”
Alone in the Dark is a remake of the original where players must navigate a nightmare through the eyes of two protagonists, Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood. This is set to be a re-imaging of the classic release with an emphasis on its psychological horror themes.
During gameplay, players will explore various environments, fight monsters, solve puzzles, and uncover the mystery of the Derceto Manor.
The story picks up after Emily Hartwood’s uncle has gone missing. She pairs up with the investigator, Edward Carnby, to investigate the Derceto Manor, a home for the mentally ill. Players will encounter strange residents, nightmarish realms, and dangerous monsters and ultimately uncover the plot of rising evil.
We’ll keep you updated on the release of Alone in the Dark.
Alone in the Dark will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
