Remedy Entertainment and Epic Games have announced Alan Wake: Flashback, a reimagined version of Alan Wake’s story now available in Fortnite. The following summary was provided for this surprise release:
Alan Wake: Flashback follows the events of the first Alan Wake: the story of troubled author Alan Wake embarking on a desperate search for his missing wife, Alice.
Following Alice’s mysterious disappearance from the Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls, Wake discovers pages of a horror story that start coming true. Alan Wake: Flashback is accessible in Discover, or through island code 3426-5561-3374.
Fortnite is free to download and available on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Android, PC, and cloud-based game streaming services. Alan Wake: Flashback was built using the Unreal Editor for Fortnite and was produced by Epic Games in collaboration with Remedy Entertainment, Spiral House, and Zen Creative.

Alan Wake 2 will launch digitally for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 27, 2023. No physical release is planned.
“Alan Wake 2 is an intense story and a layered mystery that takes players on two disturbing journeys, running in parallel and echoing each other in strange and unexpected ways,” said Sam Lake, Creative Director and Lead Writer of Alan Wake 2. “A newcomer to Alan Wake’s world, FBI Agent Saga Anderson’s investigation offers players a unique lens into this survival horror experience.”
New players will be taken through FBI Agent Saga Anderson, who is sent to Bright Falls to investigate a series of murders that have been happening around town. This will likely take up the bulk of her campaign, as Puha clarified how players would switch between the two protagonists. Each character will have their own set of missions separate from each other, so there won’t be any instance of playing through the same level twice as a different character.
