Aksys Games announced they will publish the Ground Shatter-developed cel-shaded rogue-like RICO London on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC this summer.
RICO London is a follow-up to RICO, which was released in 2019 and holds a “Mixed” review standing by players. The game itself doesn’t necessarily fit in the catalog of titles that we are used to seeing from the publisher, but it’s always possible to shake things up.
RICO London is set in London during New Year’s Eve 1999, where players take on the role of a cop tasked with taking out violent gangs. The game supports solo and co-op modes as players move through procedurally generation levels to clear rooms of enemies through increasing difficulty. The game attempts to recreate a retro arcade shooter feel for players as they are graded at the end of each level.
After a few rounds, players can upgrade their characters with items and enhancements to make runs more effective. There are a global leader board and reward that support the co-op features as well. The developers have addressed criticisms from the first game and only built on the features that made the original fun.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the release of RICO London.
