Trails into Reverie Gives “Akatsuki no Kiseki” Official English Name; Trails at Sunrise

The latest localized release in the Trails series, The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie, contains a neat bit of trivia that many fans likely missed or overlooked. To get into it, we must dive into one of the minigames you eventually unlock within the Reverie Corridor: “Who Wants to Be a Mirannaire?”

Just like the minigame with an identical name from Trails in the Sky the 3rd, players are presented with various trivia questions pertaining to the Trails series, with several unlockable difficulty levels.

In the third difficulty level, known as “Brutal,” there is one question that deserves emphasis. If you correctly input the blank asking the last name of Remiferia’s prince, the minigame’s host, Beryl, will drop an intriguing line.

“Have you perchance met the prince’s niece? She appears in Trails at Sunrise, otherwise known as ‘Akatsuki no Kiseki.'”

For those unaware, The Legend of Heroes: Akatsuki no Kiseki is a gacha game that has never been localized, roughly occurring during the Intermission of Trails to Azure. However, this line from Beryl gives the game an official English name, Trails at Sunrise, even though there’s likely no way it’ll ever come West.

The name of Albert’s niece is Lifthrasir von Bartholomeus, and she’s actually a party member in Akatsuki no Kiseki, who’s also the CEO of a company called Elfen Tech. This Crossbell company handles Remiferian financial transactions. Interestingly, in Trails of Cold Steel IV, Lifthrasir is sort of referenced in a conversation on the Pantagruel and is revealed to be a friend of Musse. Albeit, it’s not super explicit, so it may not be her exactly.

The Legend of Heroes: Akatsuki no Kiseki is planned to end service for mobile devices this month on August 23, 2023, but the PC version seemingly intends to keep trucking along.

I know very little about Aktasuki, though from what I’ve read and heard, it’s not really all that important and not even canon, so I wouldn’t worry about needing to understand any of it. Of course, seeing the title or at least elements of it transfer over into the main series in English would be cool, but I won’t hold my breath.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie takes place after Trails of Cold Steel IV and features a new mechanic that has players switch between playable protagonists and parties at a moment’s notice.

The Trails of Cold Steel protagonist, Rean Schwarzer, Crossbell protagonist, Lloyd Bannings, and the brand new character C, are the leaders of these three parties. They face their own unique threats before eventually uniting against something especially grand.

A prominent feature is the Reverie Corridor, highly akin to Phantasma from Trails in the Sky the 3rd, where a plethora of side activities await players, such as combat challenges, minigames, a fake gacha, over 50 playable characters, and teases toward the Calvard arc seen in the Kuro games.
