AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative Reveals Double Story Perspectives, Screenshots, Renders & More
Developer and publisher Spike Chunsoft has shared new details regarding their upcoming visual novel adventure, AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative.
Firstly, this title reveals that its narrative is being told from 2 perspectives. The present comprises Mizuki, a newly appointed ABIS agent who discovers the left half of a corpse from a serial killing that occurred 6 years prior. Further, the body shows no signs of decomposition.
The narrative is also told via the past from the other protagonist’s perspective, Ryuki. He’s investigating the Half Body serial killing after discovering the right half of a corpse during a game show. Mizuki is also present during this investigation as a 12-year-old. And, as fate would have it, Mizuki ends up pursuing Ryuki for aid in her own investigation in the future.
The gameplay is mostly the same as the previous entry, with investigations and Sominums. However, 2 mechanics deserve notable mention; Wink Psync and Virtual Reality. The former allows players to read others’ thoughts through memory-induced dreams. On the other hand, virtual reality lets players gather clues from thermal imaging and X-rays to eventually reenact the truth of the matter at hand.
Additionally, several screenshots and character renders with profiles were provided, viewable below:
AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative shows an event where the right half of a corpse was discovered, but the left half was never found until six years later. However, the body has shown no signs of decay, as though it’s only a day old. New, special agent Mizuki and her AI partner Aiba are tasked to solve the Half Body serial killings. Kotaro Uchikoshi is confirmed to be the Scenario Writer. Hardcore fans can pre-order the game’s Collector’s Edition, which has a bunch of goodies.
