AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative Introduces New Gameplay Mechanic, Key Rules
The latest issue of Famitsu shared a brief bit of new gameplay information regarding the Spike Chunsoft published AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative. Community translator Batts translated the relevant information, which you can view below alongside the correlating Famitsu scan:
In the world of Somnium, common sense does not apply at all. In Ai: the Somnium Files, very few hints were given, and players often had to brute-force their way into the choices. But this game introduces a brand-new mechanic: Key Rules, based on the subject’s memories and consciousness. Making this rule clear makes it easier to narrow down your choices and actions.
It will be throughouly hidden at the start, but by repeatedly investigating, you’ll eventually reveal the full text. Once you do, finding the correct option to unlock each Mental Lock becomes very easy by taking the Key Rule you’ve discovered into consideration.

Kotaro Uchikoshi is confirmed to be the Scenario Writer. Hardcore fans can pre-order the game’s Collector’s Edition, which has a bunch of goodies.
