Adult Version of “YU-NO” To Be Ported to PC; MAGES Director Acting in Supervisor Role

Speaking with a Japanese game media publication, Dengenki, director at MAGES Makoto Asada, shared insight into some future titles in development. However, Asada-san also went on a tangent about working on the recent remake of YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this Worldwhich was released in the west on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2019.

However, fans of the title will know that YU-NO was originally an adult game developed by ELF Corporation and released in 1999. The game included 18+ scenarios of the heroines. While the remake did its best to highlight as many of the all-ages scenes as possible, the adult scenes were not included in the remake, not even in the PC version. This is mainly due to Mages not being an adult company, which Asada-san highlights when reflecting on developing the remake.

Asada-san shares, “Going back to the subject of remakes, if I had the extra energy, I would like to make an alternate-world version of YU-NO that branches out into a different world using the A.D.M.S. system.” He continues, “When I was working on the remake of YU-NO, I was working on the structure and the route division, but I stopped because I knew that I would not be able to finish it in time for the release date, so I stopped. If I had made it this way, the release date would have been extended by another three years (laughs).”

However, almost out of nowhere, he says, “Speaking of which, the adult version of YU-NO is being ported to the PC.” This is big news for fans wanting to play this version on modern PCs.

He continues, “I always thought it was a shame that there was no way to play the original version of the game that I played, and I was hoping that FANZA’s site would offer YU-NO in a playable form. Fortunately, I have a staff member [at FANZA] who is a long-time acquaintance of mine, and when I approached them about it, they said they would be able to make it a reality.”

As Mages is NOT an adult company, Asada-san will participate in a “supervisory capacity.”

The release time is unknown at this time, but we should expect news soon.
