NIS America announced that the Aquaplus developed action RPG Utawarerumono: ZAN will launch on PlayStation 4 in the west this Fall.
Utawarerumono: ZAN tells the story of Haku, a man who has lost his memories, as a conflict consumes him. Players will take control of 12 heroes over the course of the game and fight against the approaching threat using their unique skills and abilities to engage them.
Strangely, the game differs from its usual genre of strategy RPG sections and instead utilizes and fast action system where players will need to cut through enemies more reminiscent of a hack and slash. Utawarerumono: ZAN will also feature online multiplayer for up to 4 players to team up and fight off enemies. Additionally, the game contains animated cutscenes as the story unfolds along with the usual visual novel style interactions.
Utawarerumono: ZAN will feature Japanese audio with English subtitles.
The publisher released a new trailer showing gaming and playable characters that players will get to know more about during the game’s narrative. However, each of the characters is from the Utawarerumono so they will be recognizable to fans of the series.
