Ace Combat 7: Unknown Skies Let’s You Hop in the Cockpit with VR Mode

Bandai Namco Announced Ace Combat 7: Unknown Skies will have VR-enabled missions exclusively for PlayStation 4 with PlayStation VR.

In addition to the usual story mode, development team Project ACES added the new mode to allow players to sit in the cockpit of “the fiercest jet fighters ever flown in military history.” More details regarding additional VR enhancements will be shown at Tokyo Game Show 2018 for attendees.

Bandai Namco also revealed pre-order incentives, as well as a season pass and deluxe edition of the game. Pre-ordering any versions of Ace Combat 7: Unknown Skies will come with the in-game fighter “F4-E Phantom II” along with three aircraft skins. Furthermore, consoles owners will each get an additional digital copy of a title from the Ace Combat series, Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War and Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively. However, players on Steam do not have options for a bonus game with pre-order.

Ace Combat 7 will also have a season pass available to purchase which includes three planes, three extra stages, and a music player for $24.99 USD or $4.99 USD for each pack. The Deluxe Edition bundles the season pass and eight emblems for $84.99 USD.

Ace Combat 7: Unknown Skies will be available in America on January 18, 2019, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the Steam version coming later on February 1st.

Author’s Take: I never had the chance to sit down for a whole mission in an Ace Combat game. But I assume there’s a reason for this series to be so long standing. VR seems like a good fit for dedicated fans.
