I didn’t wake up this morning with the knowledge of what Abaddon: Princess of the Decay was, and since it’s been brought to my attention, I’ve gone down a rabbit hole to figure out exactly what it is.
Initially titled Fukai ni Nemuru Oujo no Abaddon in Japan and released in 2011, Abaddon: Princess of the Decay is a horror adventure game with adult elements. In 2019, Fakku announced they will publish the Sakuraprin-developed adventure game, but it’s been largely quiet until now.
Fakku announced that Abaddon: Princess of the Decay will launch on PC-via Fakku and Steam on October 19, 2021.
Abaddon: Princess of the Decay finds players inside Ayakoji mansion, where a cast of coeds interact and potentially have intercourse. There’s more to it than that, though. This game offers players puzzles and features horror themes as the narrative explores one’s sexual desires. Players are free to romance any of the party members, and multiple at a time if they want. Further, a BL option is available from the options menu that can be manually turned on.
The game features modes where players can unlock over 170 CGs which feature full color and pixel art varients, depending on your preference. However, you’ll have to survive long enough to see them.
During gameplay, players will need to manage their fear and confront certain phobias using items to calm down. If you succumb to the mansion, you’ll lose a heart, leading to the character going berserk. If this happens, it’s Game Over for that character, and Perma Death is a feature. Players assume the role of Homura in this quest, who doesn’t have a phobia and only visited the mansion to drop off a key to his dad.
There are added RPG elements where players have to fight monsters, explore the mansion, and complete quests making this a pretty beefy adventure game.
There’s a New Game+ mode that unlocks additional areas, more items, routes, clues, and endings for replay value.
After researching this game, I felt like I had to cover it, but honestly, I don’t know what to expect from it. So, if you know more about it, let me know in the comments below.
