4noki-Developed Visual Novel ‘Who Is The Red Queen?’ Coming to Steam in Enhanced Edition

During Élan Festival 2022, Studio Élan has announced they will publish Who Is The Red Queen? on Steam under the Bellhouse imprint. The visual novel developed by 4noki was originally released on itch.io in October, 2021. The new release will include additional content to further develop the tale, which is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

Who Is The Red Queen? tells the story of a young woman called Alice, who falls down the rabbit hole. In Wonderland, she’ll now have to find the missing Red Queen, who was dismembered and had her body parts spread through the land. The story features messed up circumstances, with trigger warnings including “death, gore, dismemberment, animal cruelty, execution, imprisonment, and suicide from high places.”

Depending on player choice, they’ll be able to reach three major endings or many other dead ends. Keep in mind the title was originally developed for Spooktober Visual Novel Jam, so it was supposed to be a basic title with only six CGs and simple animation.

Who Is The Red Queen?  is written and directed by Shino (Draw No More, from that moment she neglected the world), with sprite illustrations from YuukiPudding (Half Moon) and CGs by Pumpkin-Spike (closing chapter) and papaya (soundless – A MODERN SALEM IN REMOTE AREA -). While some of the music is taken from PeriTune, there are also compositions by Lyraden (Hearts Astride).

According to the Steam page, the expanded edition of Who Is The Red Queen? is expected to be available in 2022. Check out the trailer:
