During today’s THQ Nordic 10th anniversary live stream, the publisher closed out their showcase with a brand new, upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants 3D Platformer developed by Purple Lamp Studios, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake.
The reveal trailer for this upcoming game was purely cinematic and did not show gameplay of any kind, but its Steam page does house some details. There will be 7 explorable worlds, with the entire cast being reprised by their television voice actors. Additionally, 101 songs are planned to be included with over 30 costumes and various unlockable platforming skills.
SpongeBob and Patrick open a vial of Mermaid’s Tears from a mysterious fortune teller named Kassandra. However, opening this vial also opens up the fabric of space and time and portals to Wishworlds. Players will have to find SpongeBob’s friends in these areas and restore Bikini Bottom’s architecture in the midst of whatever devious plot Kassandra is devising.
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is releasing for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. There is no current release date other than it “coming soon.”
