13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Sells Over 500,000 Units Worldwide

During today’s second anniversary live stream for the visual novel RTS hybrid, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, developer Vanillaware and publisher Atlus announced that the title has sold over 500,000 units worldwide. This number counts both digital and physical shipments. Further, this announcement occurred alongside the reveal of the game releasing for Nintendo Switch globally next year.  Congratulations to the development team, and here’s hoping its wider accessibility grants further success.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim tells the story of 13 young characters, each of who eventually have to use unique robots called Sentinel to fight hordes of mechanical kaiju. As for the circumstances, it’s best to play the game to find out, as it’s filled with way too many plot twists. And the best part of it all is getting lost in figuring out what’s actually going on.

As for the gameplay, 13 Sentinels is divided into two sides. One of them is a text adventure in which you can see the plot for each character unfold in a non-linear fashion. The other gameplay component consists of mecha fights mixed with real-time strategy elements. As you customize the builds of your robots, you’ll have to face hordes of enemies using a variety of weapons. Each Sentinel is divided into four classes, each with its own advantages.

The title is currently available on PlayStation 4.
